SPC Trocars
- An SPC (Suprapubic Catheter) trocar is a medical instrument used to insert a suprapubic catheter (a catheter inserted directly into the bladder through the abdominal wall) for urinary drainage, particularly when urethral access is difficult or impossible.
- Suprapubic Cystostomy: The main use of a Suprapubic SPC trocar is to create a suprapubic cystostomy tract. This involves making an incision in the lower abdomen, usually just above the pubic bone, and then using the trocar to puncture the urinary bladder.
Purpose:
- SPC trocars are designed to create a controlled entry point into the bladder for suprapubic catheter placement, offering an alternative to urethral catheterization.
Applications:
- Urinary Drainage:SPC trocars are used for patients who require long-term or temporary bladder drainage due to conditions like urinary retention, bladder obstruction, neurogenic bladder, or other urinary issues.
- Alternative to Urethral Catheterization:When urethral access is not possible or advisable, SPC trocar insertion provides a way to drain urine directly from the bladder.
- Minimally Invasive Procedure:SPC trocar insertion is a minimally invasive procedure, allowing for a controlled and safe entry into the bladder.
